Der Gomidas was ordained February 23, 2003 and was assigned to the St. George Armenian parish in March 2003. Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1965, Der Gomidas Zohrabian and his family moved to Etchmiadzin in 1972 where he went on to study in the Seminary of Holy Etchmiadzin. He was ordained a Deacon in 1989. While studying in the seminary, he also worked in the museum of the Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. He came to the United States in 1995 and continued his studies at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY; General Theological Seminary in New York City; St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary in Crestwood, NY; and St. Nersess Armenian Seminary in New Rochelle, NY. He served as a pastoral intern at the St. Vartan Cathedral in New York City. He and his Yeretzgin Ellen have three children; a daughter Angel and sons Gregory and Anthony.
